AHIMSA* Bandinfo
Classical south-indian music as well as western classical
and furious Jazz compositions played with such a
virtuosity that it reminds us of the excellency created
by the infamous group Shakti. The five
renowned musicians from India and Germany first came
together on 19. October 1999 during a tour from N.S.
Radhakrishna. This particular day as was found out later
is the Sareswati Puja day in Hinduism, the best time to
begin a new musical project. From the start onwards there
was a extraordinary musical and personal understanding
for each other.
Creativity, Spontanity and Innovation were the carrying
elements for this newstyle encounter. The complex
rhythm-structures and raga-improvisations from the
south-indian music are combining with sounds with draw
their roots from western classical and jazz.
* Ahimsa means passive resistance (leaning towards the
Philosophie from Mahatma Ghandi).
